Today, I watched a very engaging and insightful YouTube video from a channel called Stef Sanjati. Stef reminded me of why gaming IS good for your child(ren). Click on the picture of Stef to watch her video, but here are my thoughts on the subject:
1. Your child(ren) are inside and safe where you can see them.
2. It very well could help them through tough emotional and psychological situations as it did for Stef and even myself.
3. It DOES stimulate their brain, gives them better social communication skills, helps with their reflexes, and improves their hand/eye coordination. It may even help their self-esteem as many gamers claim.
4. Despite what you may have heard and/or believe, playing video games DOES NOT make your child(ren) less intelligent. Case in point, I've grown up playing them my whole life and have obtained three degree's, own my own businesses, and I am very smart and creative. My kids were/are the same way and they are very smart and savvy kids even though they, too, have played video games their whole lives.
Don't believe the stereotypical beliefs that video games are harmful. There is only a small percentage of kids/people who do resort to harmful behavior and violence. A VERY small percentage-- and those people are usually already messed up in the head to begin with. So don't fret... allow your children to play video games (in moderation) so they can develop as the people they are meant to be. Heck, there are even some gamers who make a nice living from playing video games by creating YouTube channels of their own. They've become millionaires all thanks to playing video games that they enjoy.
