Yesterday I was in the hospital having my spinal cord stimulator (SCS) removed via surgery. I am at home now, sitting in bed with my laptop so I can finish two of my online classes and update my website. I have to admit that I am quite uncomfortable right now as I have incisions and stitches in my left butt cheek and going down my lower spine. It literally hurts to sit, lol, even with the pain meds and anesthesia that is still in my system.
Despite the pain I am in, I just finished two of my online classes.
I took the finals as well, scoring a 100% (perfect score!) on my Advanced Editing final test, and I only got one question wrong on my Advanced Fiction Writing final. Oooooohhhhh yeeeeaaaaahhhhh!
Real quick though.... yesterday while I was in the post-op surgical area, I woke up to the friendly voice of an old friend of mine from high school who happened to be my nurse.
She says: "Hey Jess! It's Heather ####-#####. How are you?"
Heather: "Let me get you something to help you with that. On a scale of one to---"
Heather: (laughs) "Okay, I'll be right back. Just sit tight."
(Sit tight? I can't even open my eyes let alone move!)
A few minutes later, she returns. Within seconds, I feel her taking a hold of my hand. Then this cold sensation courses through my hand. It feels almost like a deep freeze/ice type burn)
Heather: "I just gave you some Fentyanol. You should be feeling it pretty quickly.".
She was right. I did. The pain eases up a little bit as she begins taking my blood pressure.
Me: "That stuff you gave me helped a little bit but I'm still hurting pretty bad."
Heather: "I can only give you one more dose of the Fentyanol. I'll be right back."
That second dose of Fentyanol did the trick and I felt Grrrrrreeeeeaaaat! Heather tells me it would take about 24 hours before it is out of my system.
(Fast forward to now)
The anesthesia and Fentyanol are now out of my system and while I am on some pretty heavy narcotics now, my pain level is about a solid 8. With all of that being said, I STILL ROCKED those final exams. Now, I only have one class to finish which ends in June.
Ya know, I'm not even sure what the point of this post was.
Oh wait.... now I remember. Bear with me while I recover from surgery. I do need to work on editing The Final Goodbye, and as I finish a chapter I will update it on Wattpad.
